Such tiny creatures, yet so magical. Hummingbirds (or ‘hummers’ as I like to call them) are spiritually thought to represent love, joy and playfulness. If you are fortunate enough to live where hummingbirds thrive, let their presence remind you of the love, joy and playfulness in your own life.

My garden is a hummer haven. It is filled with the kinds of flowers that they love, and, for good measure, I have a feeder on the patio so that I can watch them up close. Sitting outside in the early morning quiet, cup of coffee in hand, hummer-gazing is very meditative. On particularly active mornings, I can spend at least three cups of coffee watching them alternately dart about and hover directly in front of my face as if to coax me to play with them. Their chatter adds a nice beat to the chorus of other birds heard off in the distance, and I often find myself chattering with them, reassuring them that they are safe in the sanctuary of my yard,

So spend some time with hummers. Take the time to watch them, listen to them and revel in their simple beauty. You will find that they really do bring joy to your day!
