Living in a state of joy is the best gift you can give yourself and the highest form of gratitude to the UniverseThis year I have been really diving deep into discovering who I am, and what  my purpose, or dharma, is here on this Earth.   While I do not profess to have even come close to ascertaining the answers to those questions, one thing that I do know is that it is essential to find your joy and live that joy everyday.

“Living in a state of Joy is the best gift you can give yourself and the highest form of gratitude to your Creator.”

But how do you find your joy?  Joy will mean different things to different people.  Some may find joy in writing, while others may find it in re-building an engine, or planting a beautiful garden.  Whatever it may be, your job on this Earth is to find it, nurture it and relish in it every single day.  Why? Because that is how you were created to BE.  The Divine Intelligence that created human life did not create us to be miserable.

Think about your childhood.  Back before the pressures of life started to chip away at our innocence, our imagination and our wonder.  As we grew older, we learned to live to fit in with our middle school classmates, to compare ourselves to our college chums, and, as we entered the workplace, to keep up with the Joneses.  In living our lives in comparison to others, we lost the mindfulness of living our joy.

So take a moment each day to meditate on those things that bring sheer bliss.  Write it down where you will see it throughout the day.  Set a reminder on your phone that will pop up during the day, and when it does, remember to smile.  If you love to write, write.  If you love to paint, paint.  If you love to shake your tail feather, by all means do that as often as possible.   Be completely committed to your joy and your joy will be completely committed to you. And whatever you do, do not allow another person to steal your joy!  It’s not always easy, but if you get in the habit of choosing happiness, your life will change in ways you never thought possible!
