During my travels in Guatemala, I have learned very acutely that our best laid plans are no match for what Source has planned for us. We may want to go right, but if we are meant to go left, the signs will be everywhere, urging us to take the path meant for us in that moment. Some of the signs will be subtle, while others will be ‘smack ya in the face’ obvious, and our job is to be present enough to recognize them and, perhaps most importantly not resist or ignore them.

This is no easy task, mind you. In my case, I had plans during my travels with a friend that were derailed by civil unrest in the area—-circumstances completely out of our control. The initial response was to resist this change and try to get around this clear and obvious block that the Universe had placed in front of us, which resulted in feelings of frustration and discouragement. The “what now?” was paralyzing.

However, once I released my hold on the original plan and welcomed this not so subtle sign, I immediately felt lighter and open to all the beautiful alternatives available to us. Recognizing that we were simply being redirected for a different path (not to mention our safety!) in that moment led to a feeling of excitement for what was to come. And so I sit here, on the beautiful grounds of Hotel Museo Santo Domingo, filled with immense gratitude and a reminder to be more aware of the signs that Source lovingly sends my way, for they are intended to direct me on the path that I was created to walk.

And so, my invitation to you is to listen to those subtle and not so subtle nudgings, and do not ignore the Universe when it is trying to tell you to go left.
